Weiss Architects was asked to design a major renovation and expansion of an existing furniture store along a very busy boulevard. The challenge was to provide a design that would transform the existing store without denying its highly refined persona. With a much larger store, set back at a distance from the street, the design needed to draw passersby into the store. The solution was to use the existing building as a neutral backdrop to a series of glass prisms that would provide entry and showroom space as well as high visibility from the street. The prisms, of irregular shape, will create a very warm presentation of the furniture inside.
