The design of Cubs Care Park was based on translating aspects of Wrigley Field to a little league scale stadium. The grandstands, with hip roof structure and exposed steel truss work, were placed close to the playing field, allowing an intimate relationship between fans and players. The brick, limestone, and colors used throughout the stadium match those of the big league ballpark. The scoreboard was crafted after the famous Wrigley Field marquee, including ivy cultivated from Wrigley Field cuttings and planted along the foul line fences.
Cubs Care Park was constructed with the support of the YMCA, Cubs Care - A Fund of the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation, The Sammy Sosa Foundation, The Major League Baseball Players Association Trust for Children and The Chicago Bears Charities.
